Day 13: A Picture of Your Favorite Band or Artist

Omar Offendum. 

I am currently listening to Omar's songs on repeat. For those who don't know who he is, he's a  Syrian-American Hip-Hop Artist,  born in the KSA, raised in the USA. He sings about personal cultural experiences and the difficulty of living between two worlds when you feel like you belong in both and not exactly fitting in. 

The reason i chose Omar Offendum for todays post is because I can relate to many of his songs.  I am a Somali-Arab-New Zealander still trying to balance living as all three.

Day 12: A Picture of Your Favourite Memory

This one was a tough one. I've been blessed to have had many great moments in my life which make up some of the best memories for me, but they are all quite private and I'm not 100% sure i want to share them on here. So instead, I'm sharing my favorite memory from this summer (10/11). 

I've posted about this day before on bagoftreats. And it definitely is a day I would not forget. 4 generations of women together, exploring the beauty of the country and more specifically region that we live in. 

Day 11: A Picture of Something I Hate

Not even their cute looks can fool me!

Dogs may be man's best friend, but they are my worst enemies!

My isntant reaction is to run, no matter how big or small they are. Lol

Day 10: A picture of your most treasured item

My MacBook. 

Yes it is heavy, and yes it is 2 years old. But it is my baby! 

I don't see myself upgrading anytime soon, and if i do, i'm not leaving this one behind! <3

Day 9: A Picture Of The Person(s) Who Got You Through The Most

Off course my family is who i turn to in time of need. They are my secret keepers,  and they know me better than i do myself.  But credit must be given where it is due! So in addition to the wonderful A.H clan, i turn to my friends, whom without i wouldn't be the Amina i am today. I love them to bits not because they keep me entertained, but because they get me .They don't judge me, are always truthful and have my best interest in mind.

Without my lovely sister Zainab, being bored last year would have been a constant thing, and without the lovely Sumayyah and Sajida, i wouldn't have had somewhere to escape to when i felt trapped in the city. Having them nearby was something i am truthfully thankful for.

Also, special mention goes to te utterly wonderful:

When i needed someone to talk to, she was there. Despite being in a different city and on a different Island alltogether, we managed to keep in constant ouch. Thankfully!

Her constant stream of texts made me feel less lonely, i never felt alone with her messages morning, afternoon and night. Even when the dreaded exam period rolled in, she was there. Miraculously, we successfully conducted all nighters together, while being in different places.

Sha, i love you for everything you've done for me. I couldn't have asked for a better friend!

Day 8: A Picture Of Your Night

Forget my knight, hero/oin. My night's worth talking about more. 

 Oh wait... it's not.

As much as i love researching, it's 2.07am here and i've only just decided exactly what it is i want to do my report on. Phew!

P.S. Notice the page on the screen? Lol It's safe to say, my brain's not with my report.
P.P.S. My handwriting's not usually this bad.

Day 7: The Person I Do The Silliest Things With

Something i have to clarify, I am not a very silly person. Outside, i'm a generally amiable person and try to am quite civil. 

Inside the house I am a different person. I am the joker/prankster of the house. 

You can call me the one true trouble maker of the family. 

Therefore, the person i am silliest with is simply; me!

Day 4: Something i'd like to do again

 Go Zorbing!

 

What is Zorbing?

I want to do this again with the two lovely girls who accompanied me the first time. 

Actually, I'd like more of my friends to be there with me!

Day 3: The Cast From My favourite TV Show

Think whatever you may, these guys bring out the nerd within me. 

Heck, Sheldon Cooper alone brings out the nerd within me. 

Day 2: Person(s) I'm Closest To

My Family. 

They are my everything.

I cannot imagine my life without any one of them.

Day 1: A picture of yourself with fifteen facts

1. I don't like the rain. Actually i just don't like getting wet and in New Zealand, whether you're carrying an umbrella or not, you're bound to get wet. 

2. I am a semi-vegetarian. I quit eating red and white meat a few years ago but i LOVE seafood. 

3. I am the middle child. Yes folks, i was spoiled rotten.

4. In my family, i am closest to my brother who is 4 years younger than me. Some people say we act the same. Gasp! 

5. I lived by myself for 8 months last year. The beginning was difficult but i soon got into the swing of things. Needless to say, it was the best experience of my life so far.

6. I am a marketing major, and alhamdulillah the end is near! 6 more weeks of studies and I'll be done!

7. I still don't know what I'm going to do next, much to my mother's dislike. 

8. I keep a notebook with me at all times. You never know when a great idea might come to you! 

9. I hate bananas. Unless they're in a cake or I'm extremely hungry i try to stay clear of them. 

10. I'm Somali, but i was born in the United Arab Emirates and lived there till i was about 15 years old.

11. I don't like animals. Except cats, and as of recently, cute little ducklings (cue 'Awwww')

12. I once aspired to become an actress or singer. But then i discovered i couldn't act, nor sing. It was a sad day. 

13. I kill it on SingStar. Who said you have to have a nice voice to play with friends. 

14. I talk too much. My mother's nickname for me is CNN. She says it all started the day i said my first word. 

15. According to Shahirah, i wear black scarves way too much. I've been trying to cut it down lately. What can i say, black is my favourite colour, but the above picture is proof of my attempt to move away from it.
